It feels like every year I wax poetic about how great fall is as a sports fan. We have the final Playoff Push for the MLB, which can be a beautiful thing for so many of us around the world, even if our team is not going to be making any noise. With the tail end of one season, comes the beginning of another, and that season is one of the most popular in the country, Football Season...I mean Fall.
Every year there are a great deal of teams that start the NCAA and NFL seasons with a great deal of Fanfare and Media Love, and this year is no different. What makes this year feel a little different is that there is a team from Michigan in both leagues that seem to be controlling their own destiny: The Detroit Lions and Michigan Wolverines. While, I don't know how these teams will do for sure, it sure feels like we have moved beyond the Same Old routine that many of us in southeast Michigan have come to expect.
It has been great to see the excitement that comes from the first week of the NCAA season, especially after teams unexpectedly dominate a game, like Florida State did, or a possibly Heisman Darkhorse puts up incredible numbers, like Michael Penix did for Washington. But let's not forget to be excited about the MLB Playoffs that will be here before you know it. We are in for a heck of a ride over he next few months, so everybody get on board. This is going to be fun.
